Shorter College, in association with Rome and Floyd County, plans to bid to host the NAIA National Championship Football game in 2008 and 2009.

The entities must guarantee $25,000 to bid, which both the Rome and Floyd commissions have agreed to split. Both boards have mentioned that others might come on board to help share the costs.

The NAIA is the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Shorter's Hawks football team is a member of the group in the Mid-South/West Conference.
