This years event brings hundreds of artists and visitors to scenic Rolater park, where browsing the booths is just the beginning of an entire weekend of family activity.
The festival features original work by regional artists and craftsmen many of whom have been coming to the event for several years.
Some people have been coming back for 20 years, said Shirley Baker, a member of the festivals organizing committee. We pick a few new people each year, but most of our exhibitors look forward to this event and plan for it.
Exhibitors drive in from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and even as far as the Carolinas to display and sell their art, which includes oil and watercolor, baskets, pottery, jewelry, fabrics, soaps and many other handmade items.
The weekend also features pit-cooked barbecue provided by the Cave Spring Historical Society as well as live entertainment and a 5K road race on June 9.
I think a lot of people enjoy the festivals atmosphere, Baker said. Some show up specifically to buy or collect certain items; some come out to get food, and others just want to get out of the house and bring their family to a wonderful event in a beautiful setting.
The 32nd annual Cave Spring Arts Festival takes place June 9 and 10 at Rolater Park. Festivities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 9 and from noon to 5 p.m. on June 10.
