The seeding for this week’s Georgia State Junior Open tennis tournament has proven to be pretty accurate.

Out of the 10 singles brackets, based on gender and age, nine of the top seeds have held serve as the semifinal rounds arrive today.

The only No. 1 singles seed to fall has been Kate Stanford from Birmingham, Ala. She lost to Kayla Brady of Marietta after retiring in the second set of her match on Monday.

Brady will take on Marietta’s Megan McLinden today.

Other girls’ top seeds to advance include Ariel Caldwell (18s), Shannon Murdy (14s), Allison Miller (12s) and Shelby King (10s).

On the boys’ side, No. 1 seed Wes Nelson reached the quarterfinals of the 18s bracket after beating Trenton Spinks in the Round of 16.

Other boys’ top seeds that are still playing include Trevor Getz (16s), Daniel Bruce (14s), Steven Zeldin (12s) and Abhin Sharma (10s).

The Georgia Junior Open, which started this past Saturday, brought over 600 players from across the country — as well as several foreign countries — to Rome this week
