The Floyd County Commission will take another look Tuesday at a local ordinance regulating surface mining in the unincorporated area.

General Shale Brick wants to mine a tract next to the old Berryhill Landfill off Huffaker Road but buffering required by the 2001 ordinance puts much of the property off limits.

Commissioner Garry Fricks has been working with the company on possible adjustments and County Attorney Tommy Manning is slated to present some options at the board’s regular meeting.

The board’s caucus session starts at noon, with the regular meeting starting at 2 p.m.

Instead of the County Administration Building, the Commission will meet at the Senior Center in Etowah Park, 1325 Kingston Road.
