Agents working for the state’s Environmental Protection Division on Tuesday finished cleanup efforts for Monday’s oil spill on Zuber Creek, authorities said.

Zuber Creek is a small creek off Georgia 53, near Dempsey Auto Sales.

Absorbent barriers were set up to allow the creek to push any remaining oil into them for collection, said Floyd County Emergency Management Director Scotty Hancock. No animals appear to have been harmed in the spill

The Floyd County police continue to ask the public for help in identifying the individual or individuals behind the spill.

“We’re just waiting and hope the public will call,” said Jesse Adams with the FCPD. Anyone with information on the spill is asked to contact Adams at 706-235-7766.
