Members of the Cave Spring Fire Department look at their new firetruck after it arrived Friday morning. The rig, valued at nearly $300,000, was ordered in February and paid for with special purpose, local option sales tax money.

In the 2006 penny sales tax, Cave Spring projects totaled $2,050,000 (or 3.87 percent of revenues). The projects included a fire station and equipment for $1.2 million and a senior and community center, restoration of a historic Georgia School for the Deaf building, for $850,000.
