The Shorter College tennis teams had success on the courts Friday as the Hawks won 8-1 and Lady Hawks completed a 9-0 sweep of Emmanuel on the road.

For the women, Shorter’s Lydie Ratsaraefadahy, Angelika Bondarenko and Danielle Monteith won their matches as did Giuliana Luconi Carolina Brigneti and Kristy Walker.

In doubles action, Bondarenko and Ratsaraefadahy, Monteith and Robbi Brown and Brigneti and Luconi took wins.

The Hawks lost one singles match but swept the rest of the matches against the Lions with Shorter getting wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles by default.

Jordan Hubbard won his No. 2 singles match after his opponent retired following a 3-6, 7-5 battle, Zack Highfield, Fancisco Franco and Drew Cash each took their matches.

Franco and Hubbard took their doubles match 8-5 while Cash and Highfield won 8-1.

The Shorter women play today at Reinhardt College in Waleska.

Shorter goes 1-1 in Invitational

The Lady Hawks split with Ohio Dominican during the first day of the Shorter College Invitational at Alto Park.

Becca Thomas was the winning pitcher of game one as Shorter rolled to an 11-0 win in five innings with Jessica Sanders, Libby Munson and Lakyn Newton each hitting home runs.

Munson took the loss on the mound in game two as Shorter fell 7-3.

The Lady Hawks (7-3) play Union College today at 2 p.m. and Campbellsville at 4 p.m
