Kevin Sams, whose address is listed as Jim Shack Road, Cave Spring, was identified today as the man arrested after a bank robbery in Cedartown.

Acting City of Cedartown Police Chief Henry King said the robbery of the West Avenue branch of First National Bank occurred 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Sams was caught about 10 minutes after the call came in to officers, and the money that was stolen was recovered.

King said a Polk County police officer spotted a suspicious person in the parking lot near the bank just after the robbery had taken place. He said the officer cornered the suspect with his car.

No bank employees were injured during the incident, but King said they were “nervous and shaken up.”

Sams is in federal custody.
