The Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia held a “speak-out” and a candlelight vigil as a conclusion to their sexual assault awareness week at the Pavilion behind The Forum on Friday night.

The event was held to “raise awareness and to offer a forum for healing and grounding for those who have experienced sexual assault directly or indirectly,” the center’s executive director Barb Conforti said.

Sexual assault statistics and words of encouragement were shared in slideshows, and volunteers with the center read poetry.

The Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia aided 208 victims last year.
