The staff of the child advocacy center will be baking bread at Great Harvest Bread Co. and will receive all proceeds at the end of the day.
Baker of the Day is the idea of Great Harvest owner Carol Rutledge. Today is the inaugural event, but Rutledge said she plans to do more, all benefiting a local nonprofit organization.
Our staff will be doing all of the work, and some of our board members will be there to greet people, said Gail Garland, executive director of Harbor House. Weve worked hard to get the word out. Weve e-mailed people who support us and put it in our newsletter.
Patrons will be able to choose from three breads, fruit bars, cookies and drinks, Rutledge said.
The event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Great Harvest Bread Co. is located at 606 Broad St.
Garland said it should be a good team-building experience. Were excited. Typically we work in a pretty intense environment, so to be able to get out and do something fun as a team is wonderful.
