A Rome woman was arrested on shoplifting charges and after being taken to jail, she was additionally charged with possession of drugs, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Melissa Anne Jackson, 41, of 406 Brown St., was arrested by Rome police Wednesday afternoon. According to the police report, she was charged with felony shoplifting after “attempting to deprive Sears of items worth $146.96.”

After being taken to jail, it was discovered Jackson had a bottle of hydrocodone in her pants. She received an additional charge of felony possession of drugs by an inmate.

She remained in jail Wednesday night without bail and was being held on a probation violation
