Jail inmate charged with battery

A Floyd County Jail inmate was charged after an altercation last week in which he injured another inmate, records at the jail stated.

According to jail records:

James Leon Smith, 23, was charged with felony aggravated battery after an investigation into an incident that happened Sept. 18. Smith allegedly got into an altercation with another inmate, and records stated he “maliciously caused harm to (the inmate) by seriously disfiguring his bottom teeth.”

Smith remains in jail without bail.
