One person had to be extricated from a car after a two-vehicle wreck that occurred on Burnett Ferry Road at Conn Street in West Rome around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Rome police at the scene:

A gray Nissan Gazelle sedan, driven by 20-year-old Juan Francisco of Rome, was traveling south on Burnett Ferry Road when it attempted to turn left onto Conn Street.

Police said Francisco pulled into the path of a Toyota 4Runner, which was traveling north on Burnett Ferry. The Toyota crashed into the passenger-side door of the Nissan, spinning the Toyota around 180 degrees and knocking the Nissan into a ditch.

The passenger in the Nissan, 35-year-old Misael Rabera of Rome, had to be extricated by EMS workers. He was transported to Floyd Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Police said the driver of the Toyota was 27-year-old Baldomero Vasquez of Rome.

Traffic in both directions on Burnett Ferry Road was blocked for about 45 minutes while emergency crews worked the scene and as wreckers removed the vehicles.

Police said Francisco was arrested and charged with driving without a license and failure to yield the right of way.
