Pepperell senior finishes third at state literary meet

Judson Whitfield, a senior at Pepperell High School, finished third in the State Literary Meet held recently at Houston County High School. Judson advanced to the state competition by winning the Region 7AA title.

The 7AA Region Literary Meet was held on March 12 in Calhoun. In the academic competition, team members compete in various events, and points are awarded to the team as a whole based on placement of all of the entries. The Pepperell High School team placed third in the 7AA Region competition.

Individual Floyd County students who placed at the region competition were:

Boys Essay: Luke Weeks, Coosa, second place, and Colton Jerris, Pepperell, third place

Girls Essay: Keri Gresham, Model, fourth place

Dramatic Interpretation: Courtney Smith, Coosa, third place (girls)

Extemporaneous Speaking: Jordan Eaker, Pepperell, second place, Conner Livingston, Model, third place, and Toby Armellino, Coosa, fourth place (boys); Kayla Rampley, Pepperell, second place (girls)

Boys Solo: Judson Whitfield, Pepperell, first place

Girls Solo: Honesty Knight, Pepperell, fourth place

Girls Trio: Honesty Knight, Karissa Hackett and Ashley Pawlowski, Pepperell, third place

Boys Quartet: Will Anderson, Daniel Mojica, Casey Kean and Judson Whitfield, Pepperell, second place
