Veterans group awards scholarships to area students

The United Veterans of the Armed Forces have named their 2010 local scholarship recipients. Each student received a $200 scholarship.

Scholarship winners include:

Adarion J. Brown of Rockmart High School, son of Renonda Dorsey and Travis Brown, will attend State University of South Carolina, Orangeburg, S.C.

DeAndre Davis of Calhoun High School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Sellers, will attend Dalton State College.

Eric Garland Hunt of Rome High School, son of Eric and Charlotte Hunt, will attend Georgia Highlands College.

Zachary J. Langston of Calhoun High School, son of Lamar and Tanisha Langston, will attend Dalton State College.

Taylor Simpson of Gordon Central High School, daughter of Tammy Simpson and Jimmy Pope, will attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Mauri Rena Wells of Rome High School, daughter of Jeff and Diedra Wells, will attend Armstrong Atlantic University, Savannah.
