Emily Lauren Bankson of Trenton and Jared Heath Welden of Ider, Ala., were married at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Trenton. 

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bankson of Trenton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lynn Woodall of Armuchee and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Morrison Bankson. She is the great-granddaughter of Marcelle Grigsby of Armuchee. 

The groom is the son of Rickey and Wanda Welden of Ider and Dale and Cindy Gore of Flat Rock, Ala. He is the grandson of Larry and Dianne Tinker of Pisgah, Ala., Junior and Jean Osborne and Lois Welden, all of Flat Rock, and the late Clyde Welden. 

The Rev. Clay Moreland, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church, and the Rev. Jeff Watkins, pastor of New Life Ministries in Ider, performed the ceremony. 

A program of wedding music included “Canon in D,” “When God Made You” and “Brown-Eyed Girl.” 

Erin Bankson of Trenton, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Holly Reed of Trenton, and Sara Welden of Ider. They wore strapless bubble hem tea-length dresses each designed of flat taffeta in apple red with a ruched sash in black tied at the waistline.  They carried a bouquet of three sunflowers. 

Zona Grizzle, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. 

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a white taffeta side-draped trumpet gown with an empire waist, beaded sweetheart neckline and chapel-length train.  The bride carried a bouquet of six sunflowers.  She wore a diamond ring that belongs to her mother.

Dustin Welden, of Ider, brother of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Heith Townson and Rodney Bearden, both of Ider.

Cody Tinker, cousin of the groom, was the ringbearer. 

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier vanilla cake topped with white fondant, wrapped with a crimson ribbon and adorned with fresh sunflowers. The groom’s cake was a square chocolate cake decorated in a camouflage theme. 

The evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held at the church for the wedding party and their families.

Other pre-nuptial parties included a shower hosted by Woodlawn Baptist Church; a shower hosted by New Life Ministries; a shower hosted by Cindy Gore at Five Points Baptist Church; a shower hosted by Lisa Edwards and Vicki Grizzle, aunts of the bride, and a lingerie shower hosted by Tanza Watkins. 

After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple resides in Ider.
