The Braves continued to have trouble against Asheville on Sunday, when the hosting Tourists shut down Rome for a 7-2 win, giving the Braves only one win in the series.

Asheville started putting up runs early, scoring two in the second inning, followed by one run each through the next four innings.

The Braves’ only runs came in the fifth and ninth innings, both on solo home runs.

Chris Curley hit one in the fifth, his second of the season, and Joe Leonard hit his third of the year in the ninth. Leonard was the only Rome Brave to have multiple hits, going 2-for-4.

Jeffrey Lorick took the loss for the Braves, dropping his season record to 3-4. He threw four innings, struck out two and gave up two home runs. Steven Kent, Thomas Berryhill and David Francis all pitched in relief.

The Braves return to State Mutual Stadium for a four-game series against the Savannah Sand Gnats, beginning tonight at 7 p.m. The Braves then head out on the road for a five-game series against the Greenville Drive.
