Deal will be in Rome Saturday for the sixth annual Republican Rally at Richard B. Russell Airport in Rome, sponsored by the Floyd County Republican Party.
Other speakers will include U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Marietta. Special guests will include Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, Speaker of the House David Ralston and Georgia Republican Party chairman Sue Everhart. Each speaker will have a few minutes to address the crowd.
The event is open to anyone who wants to attend, said Tom Saltino, first vice chairman of the local Republicans. “Come as a Democrat, and you will leave as a Republican,” he said.
The cost for Saturday’s rally at Tillman Hangar is $10 per person or $25 per family for barbecue plates.
Also Democrat Roy Barnes, who is running for governor, will be in Rome on Monday to have a meet and greet with the public on Broad Street in front of La Scala, according to Mary Caldwell, chairman of the Floyd County Democratic Party.
He will be in front of the restaurant at 1:30 p.m., Caldwell said.
She said the public will be welcome to come and talk to Barnes, who will face Nathan Deal in November.
