The buddy system will be in full effect this weekend in Rome.

Nearly 400 youth tennis players have arrived in town to compete in one of the South’s biggest doubles tournaments — the Southern Closed Doubles Championships, which are being hosted by the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center.

The three-day event begins this morning, and will be played at three sites: The RFTC, Etowah Park and Darlington School.

The tournament field includes 10 local players, including three from Rome: Caroline Ferrari, Peyton Gollhopher, and Sarah Hubbard.

Also representing the local area will be: Christopher Arencibia (Cedartown), Cody Carr (Cave Spring), Megen Cochran (Calhoun), Joseph Elphingstone (Calhoun), Kate Hutchinson (Calhoun), McCartney Kessler (Calhoun), and McClain Kessler (Calhoun).
